All our operations are embedded with sustainability through cutting-edge technology to ensure environment-friendly functioning.
In India, we pioneered sugar refining and operating sugar manufacturing assets on lease. Our sugar mills are fully integrated to process sugarcane and manufacture sugar using a sulphur-free process, enabling us to provide our customers with superior quality products.
We’ve also undertaken power projects at third-party mills on a Build-Own-Operate-Transfer (BOOT) model which has proved to be highly beneficial for all stakeholders.
Our cogeneration power plants convert bagasse, a by-product of the sugar manufacturing process, into electrical and thermal energy. Hence, the majority of our cogeneration process is powered through a circular economy that ultimately results in significant reductions in greenhouse gas emissions. Some of the power generated is consumed captively within our plants, while the remainder is supplied to the state electricity grid, other industries & in power exchanges.
The by-products from our sugar manufacturing process are utilised, including ethanol, which is produced either directly from cane juice or from molasses. Our distilleries produce both potable alcohol and ethanol that can be blended with petroleum. Three grades of ethanol are produced at our distilleries:
1. Rectified Spirit (RS)
2. Extra Neutral Alcohol (ENA)
3. Absolute Alcohol (AA) or Ethanol (used for fuel blending)
We also provide turnkey distillery, ethanol, certain sugar process equipment, and biofuel plant solutions through our subsidiary – KBK Chem-Engineering Pvt. Ltd. In India, the potable alcohol industry, oil marketing companies (for blending with petrol), and chemical industries are the primary consumers of ethanol.
